Glass artists from the Pacific Northwest have played a major role in the Studio Glass Movement as it developed around the world. Particularly, Dale Chihuly has influenced the movement, first through his personal artistry and then through the Pilchuck Glass School. These events led to the creation of the Tacoma Museum of Glass and their Hot Shop where people can experience beautiful pieces being created by glass artists.
